MEPHISTO CONFIRMED?!? Rumors Are Swirling That Sacha Baron Cohen Will Play The Role Of Mephisto In The MCU

Deadline- Speculation has been growing that Sacha Baron Cohen has entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a role in Marvel Studios’ upcoming Disney+ series Ironheart as a comic book villain. A source close to the production confirmed to Deadline that there has been talk on the set about Cohen being part of Ironheart, likely playing Mephisto. Reps for Marvel and Cohen have refused to comment on any Cohen involvement in Ironheart or the larger MCU.

So this rumor has been bouncing around the internet for a few days now but I have been skeptical to believe it because the first few places I saw the report were parody accounts that throw stuff like this out there to go super viral and bamboozle the internet.

However now that a place like Deadline is reporting it could happen, I am starting to believe that we may actually get the infamous Mephisto on the big screen (or little screen since I don't know what they are going to end up doing with Ironheart).

Now truth be told, despite being into comics as a kid then comic movies as an adult kid, I didn't know or care about who the fuck Mephisto was until WandaVision came out and every internet sleuth on Reddit convinced me he was going to reveal himself as the big bad responsible for all the chaos that was taking place in Wanda's mind and Westview, NJ. 

Instead it turned out it was Agatha all along with Mephisto being nowhere in sight, along with "Quicksilver" being a dick joke instead of an introduction to the multiverse. That then led to Mephisto being rumored to be in pretty much every Marvel movie/series afterwards to the point it has become a running joke that Robbie and I will occasionally poke some fun at in our comically overhyped YouTube description + thumbnails.

Which takes me back to this Sacha Baron Cohen rumor. I want to believe that he will play Mephisto in the MCU just so I am not looking at every goat in the background of a Marvel show or having scriptures from the bible about the devil sent to me by a fellow nerd explaining how Mephisto was just hinted at in the latest MCU movie. However, the problem with all this is that Sacha Baron Cohen is the person linked to this rumor. The very same Sacha Baron Cohen that has made a career out of tricking people with a lower IQ than him (I place myself firmly in that bucket since the man is a comedic genius).

Why wouldn't a man that has made a career out of fucking with people not paint his masterpiece by planting this story or at the very least not comment on this story so millions of nerds are watching every piece of MCU content waiting for Mephisto to pop out wearing Borat's green onesie thong at some point during a post-credits scene and instead seeing this after waiting through a billion different names.

So while the rest of the world is zigging to report that Sacha is going to play Mephisto, I'm gonna zag, place him number 1 on the Sus List, and say Sacha is hoodwinking us one more time.
