This Massive Hit In Winnipeg Is Exactly Why God Created Playoff Hockey
This was perfect. Absolutely everything about this was perfect.
The atmosphere in Winnipeg sets the whole thing up off the bat. The whiteout crowd who is out for blood looking for their Jets to take a 2-0 lead in the series. The hit itself was obviously the star of the show here, and it was clean as a whistle. Logan Stanley made a read on the puck, put his shoulder down, and buried Jordan Kyrou into next Tuesday.
But it doesn't stop there. The refs were perfect here. Sometimes it's easy for refs to make calls based on how violent a hit looks rather than whether it was clean or not. Luckily the refs decided to keep the whistle in their pocket on this one and didn't ruin a perfectly great hit with a shitty call. And credit to the rest of the Blues players on the ice out there. Usually nowadays whenever we see a big hit like this, it always results in a fight regardless if it was clean or not. It sucks because the dude lands a clean hit, and still has to sit in the box for 5 minutes because he got in a fight after. That wasn't the case here. The Blues knew it was just a great hockey play, and kept moving on. Kyrou popped back up, and was right back out there for his next shift despite almost becoming a homicide victim.
That's what playoff hockey is all about. Hits like that, and snipes like this one from Jimmy Snuggerud.
Kid should still be in the library studying for finals right now. Instead, he's completely torching the best goalie in the NHL up high.
