Max Domi Scoring A Playoff Overtime Game Winner For The Toronto Maple Leafs Was 30 Years In The Making

Max Domi was born in March of 1995. About a month after he was born, his old man was traded to Toronto where he would go on to become one of the most iconic Leafs player of all time. At the very least, Tie Domi was the greatest and most feared enforcer that Toronto has ever had. And in an era where having a massive heavyweight fighter on your roster was crucial, he was a king in the era of killers.

Tie Domi spent the final 10 years of his career in Toronto. During that time, Max Domi pretty much great up Maple Leafs Gardens.

Getting on the ice at practice. Growing up around some of the greats like Mats Sundin. Going to all the games. I'm sure the dream for Max Domi has always been to eventually wear that Leafs sweater himself one day. He got a chance to live out that dream when he signed with the Leafs a couple summers ago. And then 30-years after his old man was traded to Toronto, Max Domi went ahead and buried the overtime game winner to give the Leafs a 2-0 series lead in Battle of Ontario.

That has to be so annoying for Travis Green. Guy is out there at practice in 2002 with the Leafs with a little 7-year-old Max Domi buzzing around on the ice slashing the back of his knees, and all of a sudden we're 23 years later and Max is burying him in the playoffs. He just can't escape this kid.
