'We Should Be The Best At Everything' - Mark Pope Perfectly Sums Up Kentucky Basketball, Plans To Keep It The Gold Standard Of The Sport

I woke up this morning feeling great about my Knicks. Up 3-1, things starting to click, but then I saw this. Let me be clear, I love the Knicks, they were my first basketball love as a kid, but nothing and I mean nothing means more to me than Kentucky basketball. I try to take a break from them during the offseason. It's too hard to stay up to date on the portal on a daily basis, who is coming into the program, who the program is targeting, all that. So I step back, focus on improving my golf game and check in from time to time like my kid is at college.

Then I saw this tweet. And just like that all I can think about is Kentucky basketball. We want to be the best at everything. Good. That's the way Kentucky basketball should be. It's the gold standard of the sport. It's the program everyone compares themselves to. It's the program that every fan screams about. We are college basketball whether you hate us or love us. Mark Pope wants the most NIL? Make it happen. Mark Pope wants the hardest schedule? Good. Play the best of the best. I'm willing to cut off any team that has never made a Final Four on our schedule and have that be a stipulation. Conferences don't matter anymore. Want the best players? Go get them, Mark. The coolest jerseys? Okay, we can work on that one. See I'm not completely biased. But if we go back to these, then it's job complete

Any questions about Mark Pope has been put to bed in one season. The dude can coach his ass off. He's recruiting at an elite level. He's bringing in transfers at an elite level. He has completely rejuvenated the program, the very program he won a title with. Now he's all about keeping the standard what it is. The best in the sport. The perfect quote and only quote I needed to see today.
