The Toronto Maple Leafs Find A Way To Stay Alive, And It's All Thanks To That Beauty Oldie

The Toronto Maple Leafs were on the verge of going full Toronto Maple Leafs. They got everybody's hopes up after taking a quick 2-0 series lead out of the gate against Florida. But nobody finds a way to collapse quite like Toronto. They lost 3 in a row and were on the verge of elimination after getting their shit rocked in game 5. It was time to take another flight down to Florida for game 6, where I think everyone figured they would meet their demise.

That is, of course, until Oldie hopped on the flight as well.

Toronto's backs may have been up against the wall, but there's nothing that could have prepared Florida for Oldie's ass to be up against the glass. It was a one-man hostile, and sexy, takeover. Right there was the momentum shift the Leafs needed. They weren't walking into their funeral, they were walking into war.

Of course Auston Matthews scores his first goal of the series with Oldie in the barn. Papi finally had some of that leadership weight lifted off of his shoulders, and could finally focus on doing what he does best. Which is to put the puck in the back of the net.

Florida knew they had to do something. Oldie was moose knuckles deep in their head, and AM34 was on the scoresheet. This game wasn't going to go the way they intended unless they could make a move. So they tried to kick Oldie out of the building.

But there's no stopping the heart of this man, and the damage was already dealt. Good ol' American boy Max Pacioretty gave the Leafs the insurance goal they were looking for to go up 2-0, and Toronto never looked back.

Just a kid from New Canaan, CT. And now we're heading to a game 7.

Unbelievable performance out of the Leafs. Unbelievable performance out of Oldie. It looked like Toronto was dead in the water, but now this series all comes down to 60 more minutes of hockey. All you have to do here is win one more hockey game to stay alive. Florida is going to have to find an equalizer to cancel out Oldie, and they need to find it quick.
