Commanders Team President Says The New Stadium Will Have A Roof So It Can Host Major Events like Taylor Swift, Final Fours, And WrestleMania
I cannot say enough good things about the current Commanders front office. Maybe it's because we had the devil himself running the show for 2 decades before, but this current administration, headed by our lord and savior Josh Harris, has done everything right. From the executive suite, to the GM/player personnel positions, coaching, and everything relating to making the fan experience better, the Harris group has not missed once. It helps Jayden surpassed all expectations in year 1, but even if he didn't, the Commanders have been run close to perfect. And that was BEFORE the new stadium deal was passed.
Under Dan Snyder, FedEx Field was left to rot. It rained sewage water on fans, railings collapsed, expired beer was sold, the locker rooms were from the 90's, and so on and so forth. And Snyder simply did not care. Any attempt to get a new stadium deal failed miserably because he was so hated by elected officials in DC, MD, and VA that none of them wanted to work with him. We really need to talk about that more- in 99% of situations cities are falling over themselves, going to absolute war to try and get a stadium. Under Snyder, three different jurisdictions were like "nah, we're all set". That's how toxic of a human he is.
But now Josh Harris is building the Capital of the Free World a state of the art stadium. Which is another thing I can't hammer home enough- How has Washington DC, the most important city on the only planet with known intelligent life, gone this long without a real stadium? We're Washington DC for crying out loud! And it's been depressing as hell watching major event after major event go to different cities and skip DC entirely. No Taylor Swift. No World Cup. The Olympics have laughed in our faces. With a new roofed stadium, everything will come through again, and more. Just picture the F-16 flyover the first time the Super Bowl is hosted in the Nation's Capital? Absolute chills.
It stinks LA has the Olympics in 2028 because that means it'll have to take a while to bring them back to the USA again, but when they do come back, it's gotta be DC/Baltimore. Has to be. Sure the traffic will be as bad as it gets, but if LA and Atlanta can manage, so can we. I don't know how many years have to go between American-hosted Olympics, but hopefully DC hosts them before I'm dead, hopefully that is not too much to ask.
