Cool As Hell: The All-American Rejects Are Doing A House Party Tour, Randomly Showing Up In Backyards Across The Midwest For Shows

[Source] - TYSON RITTER, lead singer, The All-American Rejects: “The whole thing about this has been sort of like this weird synchronistic happenstance of reactivity. We played this random house party, and it was like, of all the shows we played in the last ten years, it was, like this big wake up call to the reality of, “oh, this is why we started doing this.” We played in house shows. We played backyards, VFWs and I just told my manager, I go, ‘that worked, let's do that.’”

Oh hell yeah, there's nothing that gets me going in music like bands from when I was in high school/college doing something like this. There's nothing like a small venue for a concert. Quite possibly my favorite concert ever was seeing Something Corporate at York College in 2005. I'd be shocked if 100 people even knew of York College, so that should sum it up pretty good.

But now we got the All-American Rejects doing this tour of house parties, bowling alleys and random other places in the beautiful midwest. Good for them on picking the midwest, it gets too overlooked. They could have done this out west or on the east coast, but nothing screams a garage party like Chicago (they invented garages) or partying in Green Bay. Some may say the All-American Rejects are washed for doing this, I would disagree. This is how you get your name out there again. Go back to your roots and play in backyards, for love of the game type shit. Also the best way to market their new album, play the hits, bring back some nostalgia, hit them with the new music.

And The All-American Rejects for sure have hits. You're lying if you don't start singing some Dirty Little Secret when it comes on. We all know the words to Gives You Hell, Move Along, Swing, Swing and It Ends Tonight. Hell, they've been around forever. Years sort of blend together for me at this point, but Swing, Swing was released in 2002. That's so goddamn long ago and here we are with them still doing house parties. Genius.

I know it's a marketing tool and all that, but if you go to a backyard house party and see the All-American Rejects you're not thinking that. Sometimes marketing works, this is one of them. Nostalgia always plays, songs from your days growing up play more. Might have to convince a friend to use their house here, because that's the key. You don't want them to come to your house, you just want to know someone who is having the party.
