The Final Trailer For 'Jurassic World: Rebirth' Looked So Good That I'm Now Opening Myself Up To Get Let Down Once Again

We're officially entering the summer blockbuster window of movies. This weekend the final installment of the Mission Impossible franchise hits the big screen and I could not be more excited. Following that we're getting big ones like Superman, Fantastic Four, Happy Gilmore 2, and F1, among other fun movies along the way. One that I have my eyes on as well is the latest Jurassic World blockbuster.
Now before you react, I'm well aware that the last two Jurassic World movies sucked. They're barely even movies if we're being honest. Virtually no thought was put into them as the studio banked on throwing dinosaurs on a big screen as their ticket to box office success. Unfortunately they were right as both films grossed over a billion dollars. It was an undeserving number when you realize how shitty they were in quality. The last one was a giant slap in the face to the fanbase. It was time to either end the franchise or completely reset with new characters and a fresh idea. They've opted for the latter.
Today we received the final trailer in preparation for the July 2nd release, and I gotta say I'm very optimistic here.
If you were to try to put the magic back in the box and give the Jurassic movies a jolt then there is one simple direction to follow —fear. Make me scared. There should be terror in a movie about humans attempting to navigate an island full of dinosaurs. Countless people need to be eaten alive by these beasts. Give me high stakes. The OG film drove that home in brilliant ways whether it be the initial raptor moment at the beginning of the film, the T-Rex escaping and eating Gennaro, the T-Rex chase scene in the jeep, the raptor vs. Muldoon, Ellie's escape from the raptor, the raptors chasing the kids around the kitchen, or Dr. Grant navigating everyone through the ceiling to evade the hungry dinos chasing them. All of those moments brought on genuine, intense fear where you forgot to take a breath. Since the first three films came and gone we've ventured further and further away from that aspect. Instead the focus shifted to the creation of a big, bad hybrid dinosaur as if it was a Marvel movie inventing a new super villain from outer space. Then you got the rich people trying to buy the dinosaurs which was terrible. My god is Fallen Kingdom a piece of shit. And then whatever the fuck Dominion was. Thankfully Gareth Edwards has taken the lead here and is injecting fear back into the franchise. I've been duped before by Jurassic World trailers, but I have legit faith from everything I saw above.
The T-Rex lagoon scene was something OG fans have wanted to see on the big screen since they read it in the book. We're finally getting it.
There's something bone-chilling about the way they presented that scene, as the T-Rex was just walking after them silently. Boy does he look good in this one. We need it bad.
Sure there will be the mutant aspect of the movie as well which is the basis of the plot. This island was where all the bad experiments were left to fend for themselves. You've got the meanest and gnarliest creatures of the world living in one spot and that's where a team has to go to extract DNA so they can save millions of lives. Why wasn't the island nuked years before? A fair question, but we needed a plot for the movie so just forget that little part.
Things I'm excited about:

-The main theme of fear circulating throughout the movie
-The lagoon scene
-A creative way of blending dinosaurs together as these mutants
-T-Rex moments
-The Mosasaurus
-Lots of people losing their life
-Mahershala Ali
-ScarJo
Things I'm worried about:
-This mutated beast that will represent the big bad monster

Boy could I see this thing being a miss.
-The presence of children who exist as plot armor and cannot be killed because people are afraid to take those risks
-Cheesy dialogue which takes away from the awesome action
-Forced callbacks to the best moments of previous movies that are nothing but unnecessary fan service
-A lack of deaths (big problem in Dominion)
July 2nd, folks. I'm cautiously very optimistic this is going to be worth our while.
