I Would Have Liked to See Denzel Washington Punch This Clueless Reporter Who Wouldn't Stop Grabbing Him at The Cannes Film Festival

First off, what a crew right there. You have Denzel Washington dressed appropriately for the Cannes Film Festival, A$AP Rocky dressed appropriately for the Cannes Film Festival (but with a little flair), and Spike Lee dressed like if the Monopoly Man traded Park Place for a stake in the New York Knicks.

God that must be so infuriating to yell at a guy and have him smile back at you like such an idiot. It's like beating a stupid person in an argument. It's never satisfying because they're too dumb to ever realize they lost. If I had to guess, that reporter (or whatever the occupation of that man who dared touch Denzel's arm is) doesn't know the slightest bit of English. If any English words did come out of his meth, I'm willing to bet they were direct quotes from a Denzel movie. I bet after that heated interaction, he looked over to his French reporter friends and said, "C'était génial ! On est tellement Français!" I'm pretty sure he thought Denzel was in character. That Denzel was blessing him with his best up close and personal rendition of Detective Alonzo Harris. Especially considering after Denzel gave him the full finger-in-face treatment (which is really one of the most belittling things you can do to another man), and he went back for a second arm grab to see if he'd do Coach Herman Boone next. Who my colleague White Sox Dave would tell you are basically the same character.

Honestly of all of the dumb stuff White Sox Dave has said in his day (no offense, Dave), that's not his worst take. I love Denzel. And Dave take it much further than I would. But Denzel isn't necessarily dripping with range.

Simply grabbing a guy on the arm a couple time probably doesn't warrant a punch. But at some point it'd be nice if somebody set a precedent. Kinda like Big Cat's idea that once per year, an athlete gets to call out a fan from the stands and fight him at center court. It keeps people on their toes. Celebrities and athletes are basically zoo animals in those situations. It's a tale as old as time. The fans, reporters, paparazzi, or whoever can do or say whatever the hell they want, and if the more famous person retaliates it's all on them. And it's always going to be that way. Because when it comes down to it, when you make millions and millions of dollars for being a famous actor or athlete, that's the type of bullshit you sign up for. I have a feeling if that same reporter comes across Denzel at Cannes again, he'd probably do the exact same thing. I'm actually kinda jealous of that reporter. It must be freeing to go through life being so oblivious.
