'I Was Pissed Off' - Die Hard Knicks Fan John Pak Credits The Game 1 Disaster For Him Shooting A 63 And Leading The Charles Schwab Challenge
[Source] - “I’m a die-hard Knicks fan, and that historically was one of the worst losses I’ve ever seen in my life, and there was a fire lit under me this morning. I was a little pissed off about that,” said Pak, who hails from Scotch Plains, N.J.
Pak shot a career-low round of 7-under 63 to put him atop the leader board Thursday despite a lackluster slumber.
I appreciate this from John Pak. Dude is from Scotch Plains, shout out Scotch Plains, shout out Union Catholic. But, look, I can only put it bluntly here. I'd rather John Pak shoot +7 and be dead fucking last at the Charles Schwab if it meant the Knicks won game 1. That's a trade I'm making and frankly John Pak should make too. He's only 26, he's got a whole career in front of him to make a ton of money. We don't get the Knicks in the conference finals a lot. I'm 38 and I've seen it 5 times. This is where John Pak needs to understand Knicks basketball is bigger than round 1 of the Charles Schwab.
I do love that he's pissed off and it lit a fire under him. That's how you know you're a die hard fan. This is the type of guy I want in my fandom foxhole. But you're still 26. You gotta live through some more pain. Don't get me wrong game 1 sucked, but we had the Ewing finger roll, we had every Jordan game and series, we had John Starks in the 94 Finals and Olajuwon's finger tips blocking a shot. The list goes on and on.
So congrats on your 63 John. Congrats on the lead, but we got bigger things to worry about here. In fact I kinda think I need to see Pak put up a big number in today's round to feel better about the Knicks. It takes all of us to get over game 1 and get the Knicks to an NBA Finals. Either that or Pak needs to win the Charles Schwab and set the tone. Someone guard Aaron Nesmith tonight and make a goddamn free throw.
