Red Sox Mega Prospect Roman Anthony Had To Hide In A Laundry Cart And Be Wheeled Out To His Team Bus To Avoid Autograph Hounds

It ain't easy being Roman Anthony these days I guess. Top prospect in baseball, the leader of the Red Sox farm system and their talented young trio, the fans in Boston are begging to have this guy up in the big leagues after how this season has gone for him. Boston has a fever and the only medicine that can fix it is Roman. Red Sox fans aren't the only ones who want Roman Anthony, autograph hounds all over the minor league circuit are flocking to his games to try and get some ink on a card.

Now don't get me wrong, I love ripping cards, I love pulling autos, but these autograph hounds are next level crazy. So crazy that they are waiting outside AAA clubhouses in hopes that he'll sign a card or 2. Only problem is these grown men have binders and binders full of cards and pictures that are already sold on eBay. They can get a little aggressive at times so sometimes the players have to be creative and go out of their way to avoid them, like using a laundry cart.

With a little help, Anthony was able to avoid the autograph nerds using a little trick from Taylor Swift's playbook, the laundry cart. Taylor goes to the stage for her shows in a cleaning cart I guess, so Anthony gave it a try and it worked to perfection.

Now everyone is up in arms saying "guy can't sign 20 autographs?" and I totally get that. But when it's the same guys over and over, game after game, bringing 10-15 cards each time, I have 0 problem with him avoiding them. It's not his job to make their living for those guys. I saw a few kids in the video and it stinks they weren't able to get the future MLB star's auto, but the adults ruin it for the kids every single time. A suggestion to the team would be make it kids only or 1 thing per person for him to sign, that way the adult dorks aren't elbowing kids out of the way in hopes he'll sign his Bowman 1st card for the 7th time that weekend.

This was on the road too, so it's not like he was dodging his home fans for the most part. I've heard and read plenty of stories about Anthony singing a ton of stuff for fans too, maybe he just wanted to head out for the day. No shame in that, especially if it's mostly adult autograph seekers he's upsetting. People will likely crap on Anthony for this but if you've seen how aggressive and rude some of these guys can get you'd understand it. I thought it was a pretty funny move to fold himself up into a Chris Klemmer type shape and hide in a laundry cart just to avoid these guys, maybe they should take the hint? Kids first and only for autographs if it was up to me, that's how it should be.
