'I'm Going To Give Him A Good Spanking Two Times' - Rick Pitino, Dad Of The Year, Can't Wait To Welcome His Son To Big East Basketball
Rick is letting loose now that he has St. John's winning the Big East and getting his son to coach at Xavier. Things are good in the Pitino household. I know Rico Bosco will make some sort of chirp about how St. John's still didn't make the Sweet 16 but then will put on an SEC regular season ring for Alabama, but this is who Pitino should be. He should be sending warning shots to his son whether it's joking or not. He's got St. John's back to winning the Big East and being labeled a top-10 preseason team.
Not to mention this is just being a good dad. I say this as a dad to two sons. If they ever compete against me for real when they get a little bit older it's going to be belt to ass. The moment they beat me? Time to retire. It's a rite of passage for any father/son relationship. Think about when you were growing up and your dad for sure just backed you down into the paint over and over again to win a 1v1 game like 21-12 on 21 layups. This is basically the coaching version of that. I assume Rick is going to run the layup line on Xavier until they can stop them.
I actually think it should be like a hair vs career game at some point. St. John's wins, Richard has to shave his head (probably should anyways. Just come on home). Xavier wins, Rick has to retire and go be Kentucky's GM. Bring wrestling to college basketball. Either way, remember this quote when the two teams play and see if Rick lives up to the quote.
