Pray For The League! Jerry Reinsdorf Agrees To Transfer Controlling Interest Of The White Sox To Justin Ishbia As Early As 2029

Today, my friends, is a good day. 

Let's start with the small news:

And then, the BIG news: 

Thank fucking GOD it's official. There have been whispers and rumors aplenty that kinda/sorta outlined how ownership transition of the White Sox would go down over the next handful of years. Well, now it's out there for all of us to see in broad daylight. 

Here were my immediate thoughts: 

Ignore the helmet. No, I'm not special needs. At least I'm not diagnosed special needs. I was just filming a hockey challenge. Video out later. Anyways…

At worst, it's a 9 year wait until Ishbia takes over. With Ishbia "injecting capital" into the organization, there's no way it gets to 2034, they ask him if he wants the team, and he's just like, "nah. I "injected all of that capital" into the organization, stadium, and ballpark village for nothing. Sell it to someone else." No way in hell. 

So yeah. 9 years. 9 years of what will be REALLY bad baseball. That's worst case.

Best case? Best case is Ishbia figures out the stadium sometime VERY soon and that it'll be built by the time the lease expires at Sox Park, which is coincidentally also in 2029, Jerry sucks up his ego* and hands the Ishbia bros the keys to the '94 Geo Metra immediately after game 162 of the 2029 season.  

The pipe dream is obviously a new stadium at the '78 plot. But I'd put $$$ on the Sox building a new stadium directly across 35th street where Comiskey was with the Michael Reese hospital site being the backup plan. Take my word on that one…

All in all, today's an awesome day for White Sox fans. I wish I could say something would change with the on the field product over the next few seasons, but sadly, I can't. Just gotta hope these arms in AA and shit pan out to get them to be a palatable, 73-75ish win product.

One thing of note: Ozzie just said on the postgame Ishbia can learn from Jerry over the next few years until he takes over. He sure can! He can learn exactly how NOT to run a franchise. 

*I truly think he's not giving up control until 2029 sheerly to feed his massive ego. Like…just give up control now, dude. The light is at the end of the tunnel though. Thank god
