'A Tremendous Mistake' - Don Nelson Held His Own 1-Man 'Protest' Of The Mavs Trading Luka While He Accepted The Chuck Daly Award At The NBA Finals

We're 4 months past the trade, pretty sure fans are still pissed but have moved onto acceptance. Also helps when you land Cooper Flagg in a massive jump in the lottery, but, hey, sometimes you're just lucky when a superstar leaves town. That said, I love the move from Don Nelson here. He finally left Maui to accept the Chuck Daly Award and decided to send a message. Good luck recovering from this, Mavs. You don't escape Don Nelson talking about how dumb you are, no matter what happens.

I actually do agree with Nelson's point here. You don't get rid of great players. That seems like a simple strategy and one I'd like to see my teams adopt more often. You for sure don't get rid of them in their prime and trade them in your conference when you could have had a bidding war. That's also dumb. Don't let Cooper Flagg forget that Nico is an idiot. 

Sports is also built on animosity. You need to have a little hate to your favorite team, they always do something stupid at some point, no matter who you cheer for. That's why I like what Don Nelson did here. He had his time and decided to use it by saying he thinks the Mavericks are dumb.
