Baseball Fans Should Have To Sit Through A Safety Protocol Announcement If You're Going To Be Sitting First Row In The Outfield, Or Else You'll Get Drilled Like This Woman

The Philadelphia Phillies lost yet another baseball game last night. It was their 10th loss in their last 12 games. This team is playing some truly abysmal baseball at the moment, and clearly it's rubbing off on the fans.

Personally, I've never really been a fan of sitting in the outfield for a baseball game. It's just such an unfamiliar angle to watch the game from. I guess the only upside to sitting in the outfield is the possibility of catching a homerun ball. But I'm not a huge "wow, I hope I get to bring a ball home" kind of guy.

But for anybody who chooses to sit in the outfield? I feel like out of any seat in any venue in any sporting event, that's the one where you need to keep your head on a swivel the most. And even in this poor lady's situation, sometimes keeping your head on a swivel isn't enough. She knew she was in the danger zone. It's not like this one caught her by surprise. But unless you know you're sitting next to a Gold Glover, you better protect yourself until you're damn sure that ball has hit the ground. Because clearly she trusted the people she was around to make a play before the coast was clear.

Basically you have 3 options if you're going to be sitting in the outfield.

1) Be a dog and make a play yourself on any ball coming your way.

2) Shield yourself until it's comically long after you know the ball is out of the air.

3) Don't sit in the outfield.

P.S. -- Good news is it sounds like the woman is perfectly fine. That's just going to leave a mark.
