I admit I was mildly annoyed by all the #LOLKnicks chatter that came with them going ohfer on interviews with Jason Kidd, Ime Udoka, and Chris Finch.
But I am now embracing the idea of the Knicks looking to pluck every coach under contract with another NBA team like a bunch of basketball pirates and seeing what happens. Maybe the Knicks get the interview, maybe they don't. Maybe the coach is happy to stay with a team that won't let him interview with a team that has deep pockets and a good roster. Maybe the coach will be pissed. The Knicks are not just doing their due diligence but they are causing chaos. And as The Worldwide Wes of Westeros once said...
Not only could all this cause some chaos within the franchises that denied the interview, but what if you are one of the very few NBA coaches that the Knicks don't request to interview? What does that do to your ego? It could crush your ego or it could make you wonder why you never got the call to the point you ask your team if you can interview with the Knicks, even if you've been comfortable with your franchise forever. Pretty much what I'm trying to say is what if Leon is just playing the long game to get Erik Spoelstra to pull a Pat Riley on Pat Riley and the Heat who stole the Knicks coach almost 30 years ago to the day?
