What's Better Than Bringing In And Eating Bags Full Of Crabs At Camden Yards While The Orioles Win By A Million? Nothing!
Hell yeah, this is how you do it fellas. This is how you really kick off summer, you load up a few ziplock bags with crabs and bring them to the centerfield bar to watch the Orioles absolutely kick the shit out of the Tigers. One of the best parts about Camden Yards is you can bring in outside food, how great is that? If you can fit it in a ziplock bag, you can bring it in. I've seen A TON of wild food brought into an Os game, Chipotle, Jimmy Johns, Subway, pizza, and the famous spaghetti in a ziplock bag. What I've never seen are straight up crabs at the Yard.
These guys just changed the game and took it to the next level. I'm sure it's been talked about a lot, but has it ever been done? I believe this is the first time we've had it recorded that someone actually brought their own crabs and ate them at the baseball game. All they did was bring some newspaper, their crabs, bought some beers from the best bartenders in the ballpark at the CF Bar and got to picking. What a perfect game to bring the crabs to too? Arguably the best night of the year weather wise, and the O's actually showed up and whooped up on the Tigers 10-1. Few weeks ago this would have been a night in the 50s with rain while the O's lose 8-0. Things have changed a little recently and I think we may look back at the night the crabs entered The Yard as a bigger turning point.
Andy Kostka of the Baltimore Banner caught up with the crab guys and picked their brain on why they did it. I think the better question is why not? It's drinking, the O's, your buddies and crabs, what's better than that? It's the perfect ballpark activity too if you're in that section in center field, you couldn't pull this off sitting in a normal seat because you'd just look like a gigantic asshole. But those seats up there are awesome, you're out of peoples way, not as crowded and you can stretch out a little bit. Perfect spot to lay some newspaper down and get to cracking. Not to mention you load up on tall boys at the bar 20 feet behind you, my word is that a perfect set up. Now I think we have to convince them to comeback pretty much every game with the crabs. It's simple, you win the first crab game by a score of 10-1, you should be forced to go to every game to keep the luck going. And just look at that view, maybe the best view in the country to pick a crab. It's literally the perfect Maryland summer night.
Seriously though, it's an awesome idea and had to be a ton of fun for these guys. They didn't do it to go viral or be a joke, just guys enjoying a game with some brews and food. What a hell of a night for these boys.
