A Perfect Start: J.J. Spaun Had The Round Of His Life And Made Some History To Get The Clubhouse Lead At The US Open

I saw this question posed by Foreplay. No, Oakmont is not playing easy. It's playing like Oakmont where guys are getting bullied all around the course and we currently have 9 guys out of the 102 on the course under par.

It's mostly the fact that J.J. Spaun played the round of his life, including making some history

Let's not forget the other 66 to start a US Open at Oakmont was Andrew Landry. Little hint: Andrew Landry didn't win. I'm not saying Spaun is going to completely collapse, he's been playing well this year. Dude is ranked 25th in the world and has been on leaderboards all throughout the year. It also helped he was out early. Oakmont is playing easier in the morning vs as the day goes on, but this was Spaun making shots and having the best round he ever played as a pro

If you think Oakmont is playing easy because Spaun is -4, what about Lowry at +9? Or Rory at +4, or Rose at +7 or Cantlay at +6 or Bryson at +3? There are big names that looked awful today.

You get the point. The fact is we're getting a true US Open early here and there's a long ass way to go. But shout out J.J. Spaun. Dude played out of his mind and made some history.
