Early Carnage: Justin Thomas 3-Putted From 3 Feet And We Got Some Diabolical Stuff From Oakmont For Round 2 Of The US Open

It felt mean saying he 4-putted, but now I'm wondering what does sound worse? 4-putt from 26 feet or 3-putt from 3 feet? Either way, this is how you completely derail any momentum you have and trying to stay inside the cut line. But, this is Oakmont. There is carnage all over the place today, look at these pin positions:

All this talk that Oakmont was a little too easy yesterday because short king J.J. Spaun made some history. Well, that's going out the window fast. Oakmont was not playing easy yesterday, it played a little over 4 shots over par. And today we get this:

This is setting up for the ideal US Open. No rain, so the course isn't getting soft. Big names fighting to stay inside the cut line, which is currently projected to be +7 right now. Objectively a hilarious number to say as the cut line. Sure, some guys are playing well but there are scores with a - next to it.

Nothing worse than the putts JT had though. The rim job to end up where you were before, begging for someone to just say 'that's good' so you don't have to putt it again. Easily the worst feeling in golf, I'd much rather top a drive or duff an iron than any sort of short 3-putts.
