Mike Francesa Just Unleashed The Greatest Review Of Superman That You Will Ever Hear

Bravo! BRAVO!!! I thought that The Man Of Steel being #BACK was enough of a win for beloved franchises from our childhood. But Da Pope reminding everyone why he was is Numbah One with a simply incredible review of Superman proves that two heroes can still absolutely crush it.

To be honest, I liked Superman. It wasn't perfect, but it was a fun movie that brought the character back to the big screen and helped launch the new DCU. All in all, I gave it 3.75 Balls. Pretty good, but by no means an absolute classic.

HOWEVAH, after hearing Mike Francesa rant, I now have to rethink everything I thought of the movie. How can a man be truly super if he needs help from robots and is constantly getting his ass kicked? In what bizarre universe is Lois Lane flying spaceships instead of falling off of buildings into Superman's waiting arms as Jimmy Olsen causes every 10 he sees to start leaking? And will someone please tell me how the fuck that dog got that cape on? What are we doing here?!?!

Okay, a bunch of that was tongue in cheek because I think it made sense for where DC is taking everything and I think having likable heroes appear is a good thing instead of a bad thing. But I completely understand where an OG Superman fan like Mike Francesa is coming from with his takes and even agree that James Gunn was taking some good ass drugs while coming up with everything because I feel like you have to take those in order to get into the headspaces where James Gunn writes his movies, which is to say he's more zooted than Mike thinks Supergirl is.

No matter what you thought of the movie, I think we can all agree that we need Mike's takes on all superhero movies moving forward, no matter how much he may hate them. Just hearing that Yogi Bear From The Bronx Zoo voice dripping with disdain over a 2 hour long comic book movie is one of the things that can still make everyone smile in this crazy world. I will also need Mike to do a segment with Stu Feiner, who absolutely looooooooooved Superman, just to see a real life battle of the titans on par with anything they could publish in the comic books.

For people wanting the Superman review from two good old fashioned nerds, here is what Robbie and I thought of it:
