'You Get To No. 1 In The World And It's Like What's The Point?' - Scottie Scheffler Gave An Incredible 5 Minute Speech About Golf, Life And Competition
I don't know how you can hate on this or anything with Scottie here. Even those who look for the worst or want to make fun of anything, this is one of those answers you just sit back and watch. This isn't a nobody talking. This isn't some bullshit either, this is who Scottie is. Not to mention, it's Scottie Scheffler. The dude is the most dominant golfer since Tiger Woods, one of the best golfers we've had in the game, ever. That's how good he is and he's talking about what's the point of making it to No. 1 in the world.
This is also part of the reason why Scottie is so good. You can say he has his priorities straight and that keep him loose, but then he peels back more about competition. He fucking hates losing, he's showing it more and more. But he's fighting to win for those small moments. He's obviously a different guy, he's family first, he's a little more out of the big lights than other major stars but he's still Scottie. You'll see him get fired up, you see when things matter to him and how he works his ass off to be the best golfer in the world.
Obviously this is something that Tiger wouldn't have said, he's wired differently. But that's part of what makes Scottie's run unique. He's not wired the same as Tiger, but he's winning like Tiger used to. You can tell Scottie doesn't want to get words twisted where people think he doesn't care. He makes sure to clarify that losing fucking sucks, but he talks about golf correctly. You don't win a lot in golf. You get a ton of money, a ton of top-5s, 10s whatever, but wins? That doesn't happen a lot. Even Tiger, the ultimate winner, won 82 times. He played in 378 tournaments according to PGATour.com He won about 20% of the time, that's it. Not a lot when you look at the number and that's what Scottie is getting at.
Think if anything it's an incredible look into the mind of the best golfer in the world.
