Ludacris and Jermaine Dupri Just Performed "Welcome To Atlanta" During All Star Game Introductions In Atlanta And Everybody Is Wrong Because It Was Awesome

If you hate Major League Baseball bringing out their hometown heroes to perform their city's anthem on the big stage, then you need to change your diaper. Because you have a giant dump in your pants.

Very few cities can claim to have a certified banger to their name like "Welcome To Atlanta".

People forget, or just don't realize it, but Jermaine Dupri was the producer that Sean "Diddy" Combs pretended to be in the 90s and 2000s. Combs stamped his name on a zillion hits and loved to take all the credit- as Suge Knight warned everybody- but it was J.D. who was actually crafting hits for his So So Def artists. Not ghost producers. But I digress...

Anyway, Dupri dropped not 1, but 2 certified fire albums back to back - Life In The 1492 (1998) and Instructions in 2001 - which "Welcome to Atlanta" was the lead track.

He also followed it up with an equally blazing remix (that coincidentally featured Diddy. Like everything in the early 2000s did.)

Featuring a very baseball-heavy music video.

But think about it. You're Major League Baseball. You committed one of the biggest fumbles of all time a few short years ago involving the All Star Game in Atlanta. You're in the epicenter of "Dirty South Hip Hop", you HAVE to go old school ATL in that situation.

The only move I would have said could have topped this was if they somehow, by the Grace of God, had managed to get Outkast to reunite and show up to perform "ATLiens"

But that's what they call a "pipe dream".

But honestly, this isn't a shabby hometown lineup. I'm actually impressed.

And talk about an absolute chef's kiss on song choice to run for the visitor's (American League) player intros…

Speaking of which. Where the hell was Lil Jon tonight?

p.s. - what a fucking month for The Ying Yang Twins huh? Just a few weeks ago, they tore up SeaWorld and let the world (and Shamu) know they haven't gone anywhere.

p.p.s. - I need to do this blog still
