"There's No Winning Culture There. My Career Is Over If I Go There" - Paul George's Extreme Lack Of Self Awareness Is Back After Randomly Shitting All Over The Charlotte Hornets

At this point in the NBA offseason, all the major signings/moves are mostly done. We're still waiting to see where Al Horford lands if he decides to keep playing, but that's pretty much it unless you think some sort of prayer LeBron trade is coming from the clouds which feels unlikely. We of course have the Summer League in full swing which helps scratch the itch, but outside of that, veteran players have a lot of time to kill. For many in 2025, that means hopping on their podcast and saying all sorts of crazy shit.

For someone like Paul George aka Podcast P, that apparently means coming out of left field and shitting all over the Charlotte Hornets

First of all Paul, very rude! What the hell did the Hornets do to you? And look, he's not exactly wrong when it comes to the Hornets struggling in the winning department. They haven't made the playoffs since 2015-16, they havent been out of the first round since 2001-02, and they've won a total of 67 games in the last 3 years. Gone are the years of the mid 90s when they won at least 50 games 3 times in a 4 year stretch. Things are tough no doubt.

But they're also rebuilding and do have a good collection of young, intriguing talent. Will it ever develop? Who's to say really (probably not).

The funny part of this clip is the lack of self awareness. Paul George stating that he would never sign with the Hornets in free agency because they don't have a winning culture, yet this is the same man who signed with the Philadelphia 76ers in free agency. How's their culture of winning look this century?

When someone says "Sixers" I'm fairly certain that people don't immediately go to

"Man, they have such an incredible culture of winning!"

Last time I checked, neither PHI or CHA has been to a Conference Finals since 2001. Congratulations, they've won more regular season games, but that is not "winning" like Paul George is claiming. That, implies postseason success, which the Sixers famously do not have. That naturally didn't stop PG13 from signing there because you know why?

Because they forked over 4/$211M fully guaranteed. George didn't go to PHI because of their culture of winning, he went there because they cut the check that was going to pay him insane money into his late 30s. Guess what? If the only team out there that was willing to pay George that kind of money was the Hornets, he would go there. So all that shit about how he would never sign there due to their culture and that his career would be over is what I would call….bullshit.

There's also the reality that signing with the Sixers may have actually ended his career. There's a strong indication that the franchise is cursed. If you put on that jersey, you get hurt. George already lost last year due to injury, and here we are again this summer, and unfortunately he's already hurt

The hard truth is, even when George was on the floor, he looked as cooked as ever in his 41 games. Just 16 points a game on 43/35% splits, it's only going to get worse before it gets better, so one could say his career is already over. It's a HOF career (not debatable), but all signs point to it being a wrap or at least very close to it.

So while George technically isn't wrong in the sense that the Hornets are pretty shitty at the moment, it's just a weird thing for a player like George to say given his own choices and current situation. It sort of reminds me of how last year he couldn't understand why Clippers fans booed him when he came back for the first time, despite ya know, this

I have to admit, the lack of self awareness from George continues to be all time stuff. I guess this is the benefit of players having these podcasts because I certainly wasn't expecting a Paul George self own today, but I guess that's just the beauty of the NBA offseason.
