Awesome Story That People Eating Dinner Stopped To Go Help Rescue Four People Involved In A Plane Crash In Florida

AP News- Residents in a Miami suburb used an ax, fire extinguisher and garden hose to rescue four people from a small plane that crashed into a tree in yet another mishap near a busy South Florida airport.

“It was nothing short of heroic,” Angelo Castillo, the mayor of Pembroke Pines in Broward County, said Tuesday.

But Castillo is frustrated. He said there have been more than 30 crashes in the past five years on or around North Perry Airport, which serves small planes, though the airport disputes that figure.

“We need better assurances that these planes are not going to keep falling out of the sky,” Castillo said.

A pilot and three passengers were approaching the airport in a Cessna T337G when the aircraft crashed into a tree in the Pines Village neighborhood around 8 p.m. Sunday, authorities said.

“Residents put their dinner forks down to get out there,” Castillo said. “Some had garden hoses to put the fire out. There were cuts and bruises, but all four survived.”

Giovanna Hanley said the plane crashed near her mother’s house where she was staying.

“Within seconds, my hero Father in Law was breaking glass and pulling out the injured. … This is personal. This is angering. This is unacceptable,” Hanley said on Facebook, referring to plane crashes.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the cause of the crash, said Paris Tyburski, a spokesperson at the Broward County Aviation Department.

Listen in America we all have our ups and downs as neighbors. I know first hand that we can get a little out of hand with small squabbles with our neighbors. One minute you are warning people of car thefts, the next your joking for dog shit on their lawns. It could happen to anyone.

Personal transgressions aside, I also think overall as neighbors we've gotten further apart from each other than it used to be. Maybe that's cell phones, maybe that's people just being busier, or whatever the case may be, your "neighbors" used to be much closer. Look no further than the absolute disappearance of block parties. What used to be a staple for people to pool their money together to get a DJ, a bounce house, and games for the kids have gone by the wayside. People just don't know their neighbors as well as they did before. Plain and simple.

With all that said, people I do like to believe in their heart of hearts are good. And this proves it true. In a moment of disaster people spring to action into a scary situation and let adrenaline and instinct take over. People needed help, they answered. I know the world can be a cold place but it's still great to see inspirational stories like this. Well done to all the people who sprung into action to help out, and thank goodness everyone escaped safe.
