More Bad News For Indiana: Caitlin Clark's Injury Has Forced Her Out Of The All-Star 3 Point Contest
Shiiiiiit. Well, this sucks. The hits keep coming for Indiana basketball. The player everyone wants to see is finally participating in the 3pt contest in her home city, only to have it derailed by injuries. Everyone saw this coming after Clark reinjured her groin in the final seconds of the game vs Connecticut, and sat out last night against the Liberty. BUT, devastating none the less.
Indianapolis has been the basketball capital of the world the last few seasons for both men's and women's ball, this has been a time when the city should be ecstatic about what's happening, but injuries have been a complete and total buzz kill for any and all momentum for the Hoosier state. How can the basketball gods do this to Indiana? In 49 other states it's JUST BASKETBALL. Can we not just have something good and be able to enjoy it for two seconds?
Still a stacked line-up of competitors, but would have loved to see Sabrina vs Caitlin, and even Plum vs Caitlin after plum has been talking more shit on the court to Clark than almost anyone. Would love to see CC silence Plum with the entire W watching.
Obviously, resting CC for the all-star break is the right thing to do. When Indy hosted the all-star game two seasons ago, Hali may not have rested the entire all-star weekend as he participated in the 3pt contest, the game, and played host for the entire event. It's time to wrap Clark up in bubble wrap and put her on a shelf until the playoffs roll around. Maybe this means Caitlin does a challenge like what Steph Curry and Sabrina Ionescu did last season with a head to head matchup during the NBA all-star game.
Indiana needs a W, but it seems we will have to wait a little longer for things to bounce back in the right direction.
