'On The Course For About 12 Hours' - Marc Leishman Was Speaking For Every Single One Of Us When He Complained About Slow Play At The Open
I know slow play/pace of play is one of the hot topics in golf, especially after that dude got thrown into a pond. It sucks, there's nothing worse than being stuck behind the guy taking forever knowing there's no chance he's shooting a 95, let alone a real 100. But we're talking about The Open here, these guys get pissed if they shoot at 72. That said, today has been brutal. A mixture of weather, how guys play and the fact it's The Open all came into play here, but this is absurd:
You also had this with Spaun's group
Rahm even got caught on a hot mic bitching about the slow play after a tee shot on the front 9. Really, it just becomes annoying when you think guys should be playing 4.5-5 hour rounds and you're looking at 6 hours out there. No one wants to play golf for 6 hours, no one wants to watch one group for 6 hours.
Now, where Leishman lost everyone was bringing up LIV. You're talking about a shotgun start with a whole hell of a lot less players. No shit they play fast, but to their credit they are playing rounds in the same timeframe each week. But you can't bring up how LIV is doing it right, just bitch about what's happening at Portrush right now. You can't compare a major to LIV, so leave that out and you actually make a point.
Don't get me wrong, I've watched 12 hours of this event already and will do the same tomorrow. I just don't want to lock in Sunday morning and see the final group play a 5.5 hour round. Let's speed it up.
