For the 4th Consecutive Year, Vanderbilt Has Received Votes To Win the SEC Championship

It's happened again, folks. For a fourth consecutive year, at least one member of the credentialed media has filled out their preseason predictions at the conclusion of SEC Media Days and — whether earnestly or jokingly — written down the Vanderbilt Commodores as the eventual SEC champions.

These votes simply have to be made public. If someone picked Vandy to win the SEC as a joke, obviously that person shouldn't be able to contribute to this process. And if it's their honest opinion that Vanderbilt is going to win the conference over that group at the top, maybe they shouldn't be adding their opinions to this thing, either.

The Commodores were a great story in 2024, finishing with a 7-6 record and three whole wins over SEC teams — who were a combined 8-16 in conference play. That's the best season they've had in more than a decade. Their win total for this season is 5.5 and tight end Eli Stowers was the only player selected to any of the Preseason All-SEC teams.

I guess this is just a bit someone is going to run with forever and I understand these votes ultimately mean less than nothing. But please, just knock it off with the bullshit. Vote for a team that can at least plausibly win the conference, which is literally every other one.
