UFC 318 Got Off To An Insane Start With Six Straight Finishes (Five In The First Round!)
Tonight the UFC is celebrating the career of Dustin Poirier - as he makes the walk one final time against Max Holloway in UFC 318's main event - and it's almost like the fighters on the prelims are embracing Poirier's "BMF" spirit and going balls to the wall to celebrate themselves. In the first six fights, we got six finishes (three KO/TKOs and three submissions), five of which happened in the very first round! Here they are....
Carli Judice def Nicolle Caliari via TKO, R3
Bruno Ferreira def Jackson McVey via SUB, R1
Ryan Spann def Lukasz Brzeski via SUB, R1
Jimmy Crute def Marcin Prachnio via SUB, R1
Islam Dulatov def Adam Fugitt via KO, R1
Ateba Gautier def Robert Valentin via TKO, R1
All good, but obviously Dulatov's is the standout. That was violent as hell.
Francisco Prado vs Nikolay Veretennikov just broke the finish streak on the prelims with a sloppy ass split decision that had Daniel Cormier and Paul Felder disgusted on commentary, but I still think there's something in the air tonight and the knockouts ain't done. Still a couple fights before the main card begins, so toss on ESPN+ if you're interested.
