You Are Old: Kids Playing Baseball Don't Even Know Who Chipper Jones Is Anymore

I didn't need this today. I understand I'm now a generation removed from whatever the kids are doing on TikTok and all the nonsense slang they use, but I didn't think we were far enough from Chipper Jones's career to elicit this kind of reaction.

Thankfully, some of these kids at the end were knowledgeable enough about baseball to recognize the best switch-hitter to ever live, but for the rest of them, this seems like more of a respect issue than anything else. I wasn't alive when Willie Mays or Hank Aaron were playing, but if you showed me a picture of either one of them, I'd be able to tell you who it was instantaneously. Have some appreciation for your elders, young men.

I am particularly enraged by the child who said Chipper was his favorite player ever, yet was still unsure if that's who he was looking at. You simply can't say someone is your favorite player and not be 100 percent certain of what they look like.

I guess this is just where we are as a society now. There just aren't enough TikTok edits of Chipper Jones highlights, so he shall be consigned to oblivion except in the memories of those who watched him play. Sad times.
