GREAT: Tua Says Tyreek Hill's Relationship With His Teammates Is "A Work In Progress"!
Insert the meme of the little kid crying telling the reporter “I’m fine” or even better, the dog calmly sipping coffee while the house burns down around him. Either one works. Because honestly? That’s exactly what it feels like being a Dolphins fan right now. Chaos all around, and I’m just sitting here pretending like everything’s normal and in a way it is.
At this point, I’m numb to the dysfunction. Tua came out and said Tyreek Hill’s relationship with the team is still “a work in progress,” which is just a nice way of saying “we still don’t fuck with him.” All of this goes back to that last game of the season when we lost to the Jets and Tyreek said that he wanted out of Miami.
That was months ago. And to Tua’s credit, he was real about the situation. I respect that. Every player in that locker room has the right to feel some type of way. But let’s call it what it was Tyreek was being selfish. That was one of the softest, most disappointing things I’ve ever seen from a Dolphins player, and the fact that it came from arguably our best weapon made it even worse.
Here’s what I don’t understand, how has this still not been resolved? As fans, we can’t just DM Tyreek and tell him to lock in. We’re not in the group chat. His teammates, though? They are. They’ve got the man’s number. They see him in the locker room. They’ve had the entire offseason to squash this, and yet here we are, a couple days away from training camp, and it’s still an issue?
This happened in January. It’s almost August. You’re telling me no one got the group together for a dinner, a workout, hell even a Call of Duty lobby to hash this out? It makes no sense. I don’t know, maybe I’m overreacting, but isn’t this exactly what separates the good organizations from the bums? A real franchise would’ve had this handled months ago.
But here we are. Again. The house is burning. And the dog’s just sipping his coffee, saying, “This is fine.”
