This Team Is Cursed: Dolphins Corner Artie Burns Tears ACL On First Day Of Camp

Surprise, surprise, the Miami Dolphins couldn’t even make it through the first day of training camp without someone tearing their ACL. This time it’s cornerback Artie Burns, who’s now out for the entire 2025 season. Brutal. I genuinely hope he recovers quickly, and while I wasn’t expecting a Pro Bowl year out of him or anything, losing depth, especially at corner, is a massive blow before a single preseason snap is played.
This has unfortunately become the norm. If it’s not Artie Burns, it’s Jalen Ramsey. If it’s not Ramsey, it’s someone else. And that’s just the story of the Miami Dolphins. I know injuries are part of the game and every team goes through them, but it feels like the Dolphins are playing on hard mode when it comes to staying healthy. The injury bug doesn’t just bite us, it sits on our couch with its balls out and lives there all season.
Look back over the last four or five seasons. How many times has this team gone into the year with promise, only to have it completely derailed because we couldn’t keep guys on the field? And it’s not just depth pieces either, it’s always crucial positions. Quarterback. Corner. Left tackle. It’s never a backup long snapper. It’s always someone important, someone who makes or breaks the season.
Part of this, in my opinion, is on the front office. They continue to invest in guys with a lengthy injury history like they’re playing roulette at a casino. I get taking chances here and there, but at a certain point, it’s being incompetent not bad luck.
But let’s be honest, I genuinely believe this team is cursed. And not just “we can’t catch a break” cursed. I’m talking built the stadium on an Indian burial ground cursed. Say what you want, call me crazy, but I will die on this hill. Ever since Hard Rock Stadium was plopped down on sacred land, nothing has gone right. Players go down. Seasons fall apart. Promising starts turn into disappointing finishes. And no amount of roster building, coaching changes, or free agency splashes has been able to change that.
And the worst part? That stadium isn’t going anywhere. They’ve dumped so much money into it and the surrounding area, there’s literally an F1 track wrapped around it now. It’s locked in place. Permanent. Which means unless someone holds a full on spiritual cleansing or we strike some sort of peace deal with the spirits we disrespected, this franchise is going to suck.
At this point, I’ve come to terms with it. I’ll keep supporting the team, but I know deep down, we’re fighting forces far greater than bad luck or poor drafting.
