Correct Opinion: More People Should Be Cheating In Golf
So this video surfaced yesterday of President Trump playing a round of golf, and his caddy seemingly trying to discreetly drop a ball just outside of the bunker for 45/47. Obviously this was going to lead to a bunch of people playing the "gotcha" game, and thinking that we finally have definitive proof of Donny T cheating on the golf course.
I'm here to tell you right now that more people need to be cheating when they go out and play a round of 18.
I mean who the actual frick do all you people think you are playing by the exact letter of the law when it comes to golf? Most of you suck. Most of you are absolutely horrific at this sport. The rulebook is for the pros. It's for college players. It's for the kids who are trying to grind their way up the amateur ranks. The rules of golf were not made for you and your buddies when you're putzing your way around the course to shoot a 93 while blasting music on your speaker and drinking a million beers throughout the round.
What this looks like to me is a guy who is ready to make a change in the world of golf. A guy who is going to prioritize pace of play over everything. As Aristotle once said, "if you're going to suck, just suck quickly". Trump knows he's going to waste a good 4-5 minutes just trying to get out of that bunker alone. He doesn't want to hold up the group behind him. A little cheating on the golf course is good for the whole. The more people just take a better lie and shots they're more comfortable with hitting? Maybe we'll never have to see 5 hour rounds ever again. It makes everybody's life on the course that much better when you don't have 15-minute waits on the tee box because the group ahead thought the YouTube tutorial they watched on getting out of bunkers last night was actually going to fix their game. And then they aren't even going to rake the bunker on their way out.
Moral of the story is that more people should cheat in golf. Not to gain some sort of advantage against the people you're playing with. But because at the end of the day, you all suck out there and nobody gives a shit about how you actually played.
