The Los Angeles Sparks Absolutely Nailed Their Halftime Show Last Night
What a disgusting and wildly out of touch tweet by Bricks Center. For an account that makes its name on viral clips, you'd think they'd understand the ideal WNBA halftime performance when it walks up and slaps them in the face.
Between giant green dildos flying from the upper deck, and Sparky The Dog taking an adult male backflip to the snout, last night was a banner night for the WNBA. To think people have the audacity to say Caitlin Clark AND Angel Reese are the only things keeping this league afloat. The league is more than two players. It's also flying dildos and the occasional halftime disaster.
Pay the players.
I know somebody is going to claim Spark The Dog being backflipped into was a work. That they took a page out of the Cleveland Browns inflatable helmet reveal and intentionally staged a silly mishap.
I don't buy it. Sparky The Dog wouldn't do that. Unlike the Cleveland Browns, the Los Angeles Sparks are a respectable franchise. Even in a down year, they would never resort to cheap halftime stunts. And unless something is insultingly fake (i.e. the Cleveland Browns helmet reveal), I just opt in to believing things. It's easier that way. Sharks on the freeway, the Savannah Bananas failed backflip, 9/11, I believe them all.
P.S. I was watching Mostly Sports the other day, and my co-worker Liam Blutman had a take on the Savannah Banana's backflip face plant that was sneaky one of the most internet poisoned things I've heard in a while. I think Barstool might need to send some of our employees to internet rehab.
Some people thought the backflip was fake. Again, I choose to believe it was real. He hit his face so hard on the ground. The Savannah Bananas aren't in the market of looking like fools. Their brand is flamboyant dancing and successful acrobatics. But Blutman's take was that the backflip face plant was real, but the player's intention was to fake a fall in a different way.
So even after watching a video and determining that the fall was real, we won't give full credence to the video because the intention was to fake it in a different way. That just means it was a real fall. Something is either fake or it's not. We can't start getting into, "it was real, but in their mind they wanted to trick us". That's too far gone. Love you Blutman, but that's kinda nuts.
