'It's Neck And Neck' - Shane Steichen Reminded People Just How Sad Of A QB1 Competition The Colts Have In Anthony Richardson vs Daniel Jones
I'll be honest, I almost forgot about this QB1 competition. I know, I know. My quarterback this year is Russ Wilson, let's get that out of the way. The key though is it's not Daniel Jones anymore. That's a win for me as I blog about him being in a QB1 competition with the Colts. Don't get me wrong, we've seen our fair share of hilarious starting competitions and even were wrong on some of them. Geno Smith ended up working out for the Seahawks when it was him vs Drew Lock.
But this? This is just sad.
Remember, these are two former top-10 picks (fucking Gettleman). These are two guys who have gotten benched, never looked the part and we're supposed to believe they are going to figure it out now? You have some people on TV talking about how it has to be Anthony Richardson:
I like Field Yates a lot and his reasoning makes sense, but it also shows why this competition just sucks.
I think you pretty much already know the answer here. Those who want to defend Anthony Richardson will say he's still young, he's had this weird start to his career, plenty of time to turn it around. Sure, that's fine, but we're talking about NFL QB1 here. You don't get the gift of time when it's the one position every single team is fighting to figure out year after year.
Good news is Tyler Warren is looking more and more like Tim Riggins, especially since he's getting handoffs now
The other good news? It's the AFC South. What team is good in the AFC South? The Texans, maybe? They feel like a who the hell knows type team with injuries and what version of CJ Stroud you get. The Jags are as inconsistent as it gets and the Titans are starting a rookie QB. Sure, the Colts could win the division because this division sucks. That's a good thing. All I know is this is shaping into a sad, sad quarterback competition.
