Reese's and Oreo Have Officially Teamed Up To Create A Snack Superteam With Reese’s Oreo Cups And Oreo Reese’s Cookies
CNN- Despite being owned by different companies, Oreo and Reese’s are bowing to the fan’s demands and releasing a sweet collaboration. Oreo, owned by Mondelēz International, and Reese’s, part of the Hershey Company, are introducing two new treats that combine flavors from both snacks. Team ups between rival companies are rare, and this marks a notable alliance following Mondelēz failed takeover attempt of Hershey late last year.
The first creation is a Reese’s Oreo Cup, which replaces the typical chocolate on a Reese’s cup for Oreo’s milk chocolate and white creme. It’s then filled with peanut butter and Oreo cookie crumbs.
On the Oreo side, the brand is re-releasing a version of a 2014 cookie that used Reese’s peanut butter, which was “hugely successful,” according to Michelle Deignan, vice president of Oreo US at Mondelēz. The new one has Oreo cookie crumbs in the filling.
Tell'em Vince!
Yes I realize that gif is from a dunk contest that happened before many of my newest coworkers were born. But in my mind, that has been the gold standard for not only dunk contests but game-changing moments where you knew the world would never be the same.
As with everything else in life, we can debate who are the true GOATs of the snack game. But as someone with plenty of experience sampling confectionary treats (Source: Look at me), I have the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup as the best candy of all-time and the Oreo as the best cookie of all-time, namely Double Stuf Oreos because the Oreo creme is the straw that stirs the drink for the wafers, which are a perfect complement. So these two beautiful treats finally combining is like KD joining the 73-win Warriors, which means it's pretty much unfair for the competition.
THAT BEING SAID, I am expecting both companies to bring their fastball with this. Sometimes we get Reese's or Oreo collabs that do not have the actual Reese's peanut butter or Oreo creme but instead a generic version of them. That can't be the case with a team up like this. I want to actual taste what the baby of Reese's and Oreo would taste like. Okay, that sounded weird but it makes sense. Clearly the Snack Boys will be on the case the minute we can get our grubby little hands on these potential world altering products. Until then, we'll keep dabbling in all the new stuff we can find out in the Big 4 C aisles (Chips, cookies, crackers, and candy).
