The Biggest Move At The Trade Deadline Saw The Foo Fighters And Nine Inch Nails Trade Drummers

It's actually pretty shocking that we don't see trades happen between bands more often. Obviously it kind of worked out in the end, but Nirvana could have made a ton of possible moves with having both Kurt Cobain and Dave Grohl on the same roster. Two dudes with some kick ass voices. Obviously Dave Grohl is just as good of a drummer as he is a vocalist. Obviously Kurt Cobain was generational. But imagine if they decided to make a blockbuster move to trade one of them. Imagine the haul they could have gotten for Cobain, and then just have Dave Grohl step into lead vocals.

So here we have just a classic one-for-one deal. Player for player. Josh Freese is getting on the sticks for Nine Inch Nails, and coming back to the Foo Fighters' way is Ilan Rubin to replace him. I'd love to see the breakdown of this deal. I'm not a huge music nerd, so I can't even pretend to know anything about either of these guys. But I need to know who won the trade. We need to know who got fleeced in this one. You'd think maybe because Ilan Rubin is younger, that maybe the Foo Fighters would have had to add a roadie or two to sweeten the deal. Are the Foo Fighters retaining any salary? Are either of these guys on an expiring contract? All questions that deserve to be answered.
