The Tigers Stayed Conservative At The Deadline Because Their President Of Baseball Operations Does Not Believe They're In A "Tarik Skubal Window" To Win

Yikes. I'm going to keep this short and sweet because the Tigers fans get all pissy in their little diapers when I talk about Tarik Skubal for too long, but they can't be happy with this statement, right?

First of all, the notion that "We got a whole lot better today" is subjective at best, patently false at worst. Everyone with a brain knows how the Tigers season is going to end: a 1-0 loss where Skubal throws an absolute gem but they can't muster up any offense. So what exactly did Detroit do before the deadline to bolster their lineup.....? And I'd argue that of all the relief arms they brought in yesterday, they didn't really make an impact either. Congrats on Paul Sewald though!

Next, the idea that a "window is an illusion" is batshit crazy to say when you have the best pitcher in baseball on your roster for what appears to be 1.5 more seasons. You'll cry that I'm trolling but if you polled 100 insiders within the game, 100 of them would predict that Tarik Skubal is on the....and I quote the great Buster Olney with this one...."Yankees, Mets, or Dodgers"

So how does the President of Baseball Operations not realize this and go ALL IN this season? ESPN is listing the Tigers as a "Loser" of yesterday's deadline because of their embarrassingly conservative approach. Meanwhile the "Winners" include the Mariners, Yankees, and Astros….all teams the Tigers would have to beat to win a World Series.

Not in a window? I'd be pissed to hear that if I'm from Detroit (thank God I'm not). My President of Baseball Operations is either dumb or lying. Not sure which is worse.
