You Can Go Ahead And Cancel The Rest Of The Summer. A Radioactive Wasp Nest Was Found In South Carolina Where They Used To Make Nuclear Bombs

NBC -- Workers at a site in South Carolina that once made key parts for nuclear bombs in the U.S. have found a radioactive wasp nest but officials said there is no danger to anyone.
Employees who routinely check radiation levels at the Savannah River Site near Aiken found a wasp nest on July 3 on a post near tanks where liquid nuclear waste is stored, according to a report from the U.S. Department of Energy. The nest had a radiation level 10 times what is allowed by federal regulations, officials said.
The workers sprayed the nest with insect killer, removed it and disposed of it as radioactive waste. No wasps were found, officials said.
How is this not the biggest story in America right now? Are we not supposed to believe that this is going to play out exactly how everything thinks it would play out in the movies? What do these officials mean that there is "no danger to anyone"? We have radioactive wasps flying around out there with 10x the radiation level deemed safe, and we're supposed to believe that we aren't in imminent danger?
They said it themselves that no wasps were found. That doesn't mean there weren't any wasps alive in there. It just means these wasps were smart enough to get out of there before they got sprayed with insect killer. Though I doubt any form of insect killer spray would actually be able to do any damage to these mutants at this point.
Life often imitates art. Whether you believe that is merely coincidence or by design is up to you. But this is exactly how Godzilla starts off. He was just a wimpy little reptile at one point, but then mutated over time into a monster by being exposed to nuclear radiation because of weapon testing. Now there's a whole hive of wasps out there who are a bunch of potential Godzillas.
Cancel summer. Stay inside. We had a great run, but we might just be cooked here. Someone get Matthew Broderick on the line.
