The Dumbest Of Times: Odell Beckham Had To Clarify He Did Not Retire Because So Many People Kept Falling For A Fake Twitter Account
I blogged yesterday about the 90s, basically saying it was the best of times. We could just leave our house, go on our bikes, didn't have to worry about social media and phones and cameras and everything else that's attached to us at all times. We had the world in front of us, at least until the street lights came on. This is a good reminder because we are in the dumbest of times in terms of how people fall for shit. Remember when people would fall for scams to help the prince of Nigeria or whatever it was? Yeah, we made fun of them to their face relentlessly. We need to bring that back, because people fell for this yesterday:
EIGHTY THOUSAND likes. I know it's not real life, but the fact Odell had to clarify he's not retired tells me all I need to know. All it takes is a quick look, you can see it says parody account, you can see numbers in the name. Meanwhile we do have Odell trying to be a Giant again:
The Odell career narrative is a weird one. I'll say it, Odell was good at football. Then he got a ton of injuries, got old and fell off. That happens. But him at his peak? Yeah, the dude could do basically everything. He got overshadowed for his antics on the sidelines and then ending up in Cleveland, but the dude had all the tools. That somehow gets lost in talking about his career. I don't know what he can give now, but I'm willing to find out. Just stop falling for fake twitter accounts and don't you dare text Odell about retirement.
