'The Guys Before Us Didn't Win Anything Either' - Christian Pulisic And Tim Weah Keep The Dumb Fight Going Against Former US Players Bashing This Era
If you're a US Soccer fan you know about the Civil War going on between former players and current players. If not, it's pretty simple. The former era keeps shitting all over this era.
I get it. Things haven't been going great for US soccer. Hell, things weren't even going average. You have a ton of former players on shows and what not, they are going to call it all out. I don't necessarily have a problem with guys like Tim Howard, Landon Donovan, etc doing it. They played, they are some of our legends and what are they supposed to do? Lie? No, of course not.
At the same time, it started getting into this spot where you weren't sure what a Landon Donovan was bitching about. Also contradicted himself when you looked at his career and everything. I do think it's dumb that guys sat out the Gold Cup, even if it's a nothing tournament. Yes, a good amount of starters were stuck at the Club World Cup because FIFA only cares about making more money, but others should have been with the team. Again, we're a year away from the World Cup where we are expected to do something more.
That's the problem. US Soccer has always been in the spot of moving to the next level. There's no excuse for this country to not take a step when it comes to the national team. US Soccer Federation is a shitshow and it's starting to become a rich person sport in the country, but we're talking about making runs more than getting out of group stage. Did it in 02 when we made the quarterfinals and the refs/Germany fucked us on a handball. So that's why Weah is saying no one won before us either. But they didn't have the expectations that this era has. Still need to find a real starting keeper and a consistent guy up top and someone else to take over for Tim Ream in the back, but there are expectations.
What I don't care for is Pulisic's dad chiming in like this. I know it's the Pulisic show and everything, but let's get parents out of here. This is not what we should be talking about this close to the World Cup. We should be talking about how guys look good at the club level, we have some new faces coming in like a Malik Tillman and not every era in a fucking stupid fight. Figure it out.
