"If I Never Ever Speak To Him Again In Life, I'm Good With It" - It's Been 6 Months And Stephen A Smith Is Still Talking About His Feud With LeBron

If there's one thing the NBA will always provide, it's drama. Whether that's on or off the court, it doesn't matter. It can be between current players, former players, and even current players and the media. It's a league filled with wildly unnecessary drama, which is also why it's the best. Not a day goes by without someone getting all in their feeling on some level, and then it becomes a whole "thing", and this past year, the best example of that drama has to be Stephen A Smith vs LeBron.
What, you thought just because it's August and the fact that all this shit happened over 5 months ago that it would be gone forever? You fool. Grow up Peter Pan, Count Chocula. Who could have possibly predicted that a little confrontation on March 7th would still the a thing for a certain side all these months later
Things got so off the rails during this feud that we had to learn that Stephen A Smith in fact does not wear tighty whitey's (????). For a moment there it truly did feel like we had left planet Earth. Remember when Stephen A then said he was ready to swing on LeBron during that confrontation? Good times. Not really, but you get what I mean.
You'll remember immediately after that happened, Stephen A was everywhere talking about the incident and their beef. He legit did a press tour about it, which was of course the most obvious move of all time. That move led to LeBron hopping on Pat McAfee's show (which was certainly not an accident), and from there, all hell broke loose
This naturally led to Stephen A's 15 minute crash out to open up First Take, where he basically accused LeBron of skipping out on Kobe's memorial and was really just being an overall weirdo about the whole thing. Maybe he was embarrassed that LeBron was winning the beef? Who knows.
Now you'll never believe this, but a certain side is once again talking about this beef and my guess is you can all guess which side
Live look at LeBron
I know the phrase "living rent free" is extremely overplayed nowadays, but I do think it applies here. I feel pretty confident that after that McAfee appearance, LeBron has not given Stephen A much thought at all. He's sure as hell not still talking about their beef in AUGUST, nearly half a year after it initially happened. I'll remind you, this is also following a Rolling Stones piece in June that basically said all this same shit already
“I don’t like him, and he don’t like me. He’s one of the greatest players who’s ever lived. I’m going to show him that respect, and I’m going to cover him objectively. When he does great, I’m gonna applaud. When he doesn’t do great, I’m not gonna applaud. He hid behind his son, tried to make something out of nothing, as if I was dogging his son, which I was not. The real issue was we don’t like each other. And he used that as an excuse to confront me. I got it.”
Granted, I didn't go to Big J Journalism School, but it sure does sound like Stephen A can't really be "objective" when it comes to LeBron. From podcasts to features to now more podcasts all these months later, is it wrong to suggest that Stephen A is definitely milking this whole thing? He could just you know, not say anything and move on with his life like everyone else on the planet, but alas.
I do love how Stephen A went back to playing all the hits though. Starting off with the only reason he's talking about LeBron is because he's asked about him. Weird how he always makes sure he's asked about LeBron in these interviews right? Probably just a coincidence! From there, we got the next classic move, which is to allude to something major that happens "behind the scenes". I love when this card is played. You make all these claims that would be so outrageous nobody would even believe them, but you never say it. Instead, it's a giant "just trust me, bro" move. That's elite. You just don't get it, there's a lot that Stephen A knows that he just doesn't say. Can you prove him wrong? No, you can't. Checkmate.
Everyone knows that the way you show someone (and the world) that you don't care about them is to continue to talk about them at every opportunity you get. If this were true, when asked about LeBron you could simply say

"You know, we had our issues but that's in the past and we're just moving on"
Is that what has happened? Of course not. You know who we haven't heard from since March about this topic? LeBron. If one side doesn't say shit, and the other side keeps talking about it to every outlet under the sun, which side would you say doesn't care?
Just remember this the next time we see these exact same comments from Stephen A pop up again in a few months. You just don't get it, he doesn't want to talk about it and he doesn't care. Despite, you know, all of his actions that continue to suggest the exact opposite.
