It Took Almost A Week But We Have Our First Horrific Brain Lapse From An Umpire At The Little League World Series

It took a few days but we have our first real “these umps are clearly not qualified” moment of The Little League World Series.

For those unfamiliar …

Little League doesn’t pay its umpires and instead promotes only via umpires who attend their “camps and clinics” at a very affordable (hope you detect my sarcasm) rate of $275/300. Despite Little League having a MASSIVE TV DEAL which was 7.5 annually from 2013-2022 and was re-upped from there for undisclosed (but likely assumed higher) amounts.

Full breakdown here

Absolute joke. Every year the umpires are terrible and I do feel torn when I rip them because they are doing their best but the Little League system and hierarchy drive me insane that they refuse to provide the best experience for these kids in what’s likely the most meaningful games of their lives with a national and international championship on the line. Disgusting.

Anyway, growing up with an umpire Dad and a baseball diehard who coached us not only on the field but at games we watched at She’s and on tv every night - we were stressed about baseball being a unique game that on literally every pitch an obscure situation could occur where you need to know a rule, especially as an umpire.

Sometimes they are SUPER unique and you can see how a guy would have to be the best of the best to nail it without a doubt instantly. Others are just basic shit. This was the basic shit one. I mean 2nd and 3rd and the guy is acting like and thinking  it’s a force play? Get the fuck out of here. He’s lucky he realized how bad this was and got it right pretty quickly after but what a brain lapse and move that shows how in over their head some of these guys are.I wouldn’t expect that from a volunteer at The Titan League and now we’re talking about a literal US Championship on the line? Fucking joke. Know the situation and more so to the thieves in their office collecting their $430,000 salary like CEO Steve Keener did for years, PAY THE FUCKING UMPS AND GIVE US THE BEST OF THE BEST ! YOU HAVE THE MONEY TO DO IT!

Also … shoutout Little League for selling out and absolutely screwing working class families who took a day trip up there to show their kids who love baseball a great experience … or so they thought.

Joke.
