Anthony Richardson's Agent Saying His Client Has Trust Issues With the Colts is One of the All Time Balliest Moves

Being a player agent has to be one of the most satisfying, enjoyable jobs in all the land. Like if you lined up a dozen or so different professionals from different walks of life for an elementary school's Career Day, imagine being the one who gets to tell the kids you get to say whatever you want, make any outrageous claim you feel like without shame, be completely untethered from reality at all times, and just live in such a way that everything you do or say is designed to make money for your client, and more importantly, yourself and your 10%.

I know I don't have the acumen to ever do that for a living, but what I wouldn't give to just spend one day walking around in some agent's Berlutis.

Consider Anthony Richardson's agent. Despite the fact his client was the 4th overall pick three drafts ago and should be establishing himself as the face of the franchise in his third professional training camp, just came out on the losing end of a race between a tortoise and a snail:

The Colts are undoubtedly sick about this. Their players must all be planning their exit strategies. Indy fans have to be outraged. And the only hope at this point appears to be going back to the Manning Family Well once again, 16 years after they jettisoned Arch's Uncle Peyton one Super Bowl title too soon.

But Richardson's agent has none of those concerns. He has the liberty of knowing his only responsibility is to getting his client that second contract the year after next. So he gets to say whatever might possibly get his Richard's signature on that line which is dotted in 2027. Reasonableness and all semblance of sanity be damned:

You know what? In the interest of space and my own laziness on an August afternoon, I'm not even going to excerpt from the article. It's here on ESPN if you want it, but to me the rest of it is irrelevant. I don't need context or embellishment of any kind. This says it all. Richardson can't stay on the field. On the rare occasions he is, he's a submarine sinking in slow motion. Among all qualifying QBs last year he was 38th in Pro Football Focus passing grade, behind Mac Jones, Gardner Minshew and Tyler Huntley. And his passer rating was 44th.

But he's the one with trust issues. He's the one who needs to stand in front of the Colts in the Family Therapist's office and do a Trust Fall into ownership's arms. He's the one who's done all the improvements he needed to. He's the one who had a great camp.

No, he's the one who has a legal representative who understands the assignment. Nothing matters. Reality can be bent to your will. Truth is subjective.

Here's genuinely hoping Richardson overcomes this current lack of faith in the team that drafted him. And they in him. The world is a better place when he's fucking up the Colts. I couldn't happen to a more deserving franchise.
