TRAILER: Daniel Day Lewis Ended His Retirement For One Last Ride
Family bonds between fathers, sons, and brothers are explored as complex relationships unfold through personal journeys and generational conflicts.
In case you hadn't heard, Daniel Day-Lewis retired after 'Phantom Thread' in 2017. Obviously, he is one of our greatest living actors. 3 Oscar wins, 6 noms and so many iconic performances over the past 30+ years so for him to hang 'em up was a travesty.
However, like most Hollywood retirements, it was not to last. The motivation here, though, is clear. This movie is the first feature-length picture by DDL's son, Ronan Day-Lewis. is he talented? Is this just a nepo project? I have no clue. The trailer didn't give us a ton outside of some weird conversations between DDL and an actor I love in Sean Bean as well as some landscape shots. Nothing that stood out to me a ton.
So I'd say that I don't have a ton of hope for the movie YET but, if this gets DDL back onto the scene then I will love it forever.
