"Make Sure You Wear A Condom Out There" - Nikola Jokic Allegedly Gave Michael Porter Jr Some Fantastic Advice Following His Trade To The Brooklyn Nets

I have to say, it feels like not a day goes by that Michael Porter Jr isn't on some podcast saying some of the most insane shit you'll ever hear. Maybe it's because we're deep into the offseason, maybe it's because now that he's in Brooklyn he has more opportunities to be in front of a mic, but he's on quite the run, and I don't exactly mean that as a compliment. Some of his quotes that have gone viral are actually pretty brutal.

Today's example is much more light-hearted when he touched on the advice that he got from Nikola Jokic following the big Nuggets/Nets trade earlier this summer

Listen, funny is funny. If we're being honest, I had to check and then double-check that I wasn't getting Centel'd, but it appears that is not the case. Just a great teammate looking out for his buddy with some fantastic advice. Practicing safe sex is always important, whether you're an NBA player who openly admits his only vice is women or a regular person, so good on Jokic for picking the type of advice that would actually be useful for MPJ. I'm sure he had people in his life talk about things to do in Brooklyn, what pizza to try, how to maybe elevate his game with his new team/system etc. All the stuff that I'm sure went in one ear and out the other for MPJ. Jokic on the other hand, knew what mattered most. That's a real pal if you ask me.

The more MPJ goes on these shows and the more insane shit he seems to be putting out in the world, I'm almost ready to give Jokic's 2023 ring even more weight. It's largely agreed upon that Dirk's 2011 ring is the "heaviest" ring in modern NBA history, given the carry job he had to do during that run and the teams they overcame to reach the top of the mountain. Mind you, the carrying of MPJ that Jokic had to do in 2023 was already impressive enough, given the fact that MPJ put up a brutal 9.6 points on 32/14% splits in those 5 games vs MIA. But now that we've gotten this in-depth look over the last few weeks into how his brain works? That takes things up a few levels for me. Maybe not quite Dirk-level, but I certainly look at what Jokic did in 2023 through a different lens now. It's much more impressive than maybe I had given him credit for in the past, and I already thought Jokic's 2023 run was generational.

As a reminder, he's 1 of only 6 players in the history of the NBA to do this

What I'd love to know is what MPJ's agent thinks of his recent media tour that doesn't seem to have an end in sight. I can't imagine he's thrilled about it because he tends to keep going viral for all the wrong reasons and at some point, you have to imagine he's going to tell him to stop doing these shows and just focus on the season, but that's the risk with this new media in 2025. The cat is out of the bag, players are now podcasters, and it doesn't feel like you can put that toothpaste back in the tube. All you can really do is pray they don't say something that becomes a disaster, and so far, MPJ can't seem to get out of his own way.
