Alijah Vera-Tucker Is Hurt & The Jets Misery Begins Before The Season Even Starts
Usually, the nightmare for the Jets starts with a Week One defeat that exposes the many weaknesses that will be on display for the entirety of Autumn. Actually, that's not even true. Aaron Rodgers got hurt in the first quarter in 2023 and Chad Pennington once managed to get injured in a pre-season game. Everything sucks.
Well, we have another example of horrible Jets news to add to the list. Alijah Vera-Tucker had a "significant injury". It hasn't been announced what this injury is exactly but because it's the Jets, I expect it to be amputated limb of some kind.
This would be tough news to swallow for any team. Vera-Tucker is a good guard who seems to keep getting better. For the Jets, who want to focus on being a running team this season, this is devastating news.
SOURCE - But the injury must have taken place during Tuesday’s practice, because Vera-Tucker was taking part in team drills during the period the practice was open to the media. One report has Vera-Tucker seeking a second opinion to see if he can avoid surgery.

I'd feel worse for first year head coach Aaron Glenn if he didn't already know exactly what he was getting into. He was a Jet for 8 years in the 1990's. He was there for the entire Rich Katie Era. He gets it.
I am doing my best to come into this season with zero expectations. After somehow being fooled by Aaron Rodgers two years in a row, I didn't want to get my hopes up. I just want the team to be entertaining and have them on the right track going into next year. I've already mentally punted this season. I'm still going to watch all of the games but I'm trying not to have the losses ruin my Sunday.
I get that makes me sound like a sports pussy but after 14 years of missing the playoffs (most seasons by a mile), I find myself asking myself "Why am I watching this?" more than enjoying Jets football.
It all starts Sunday at 1 against the Steelers. This year, I'm going to try to not let Aaron Rodgers ruin my Week 1 again.
