We're All Screwed: Victor Wembanyama Is Now Working Out With Hakeem Olajuwon In An Effort To Become The Most Dominant Basketball Force Known To Man

Victor Wembanyama's offseason began by traveling to a Shaolin Temple in China to train and learn from monks
I'm not sure what he learned during those sessions, but it was clear right from June that he was very serious about taking his already dominant game to a whole new level as we enter Year 3 of the Wemby Experience. Once you reach this point as a generational player/prospect, this is the season the true "leap" tends to happen. Pick any young superstar you want, chances are, they took a Year 3 leap. It's almost a little concerning if they don't, if we're being honest.
Later in the summer, we learned that in addition to training with monks, Wemby was also spending his offseason learning from one of the greatest PFs to ever do it. A player who has the exact mentality that Wemby could learn from
Why was this so terrifying? As I said in the blog at the time, think of what Wemby looks like with this type of shot in his offensive arsenal? Who is stopping this?
Now, as we sit here in early September, I have more bad news. Well, that is if your favorite team is now in charge of stopping Wemby. If you're a Spurs fan, this is about to send you over the moon. What if I told you there was another legend who is sharing his knowledge and skill with Wemby? One that could not only transform him offensively, but defensively as well???
Alright man, what then hell. When I wrote that KG blog I wondered if Hakeem was next given Wemby clearly is seeking out the legends of his position, but I was sort of holding out hope that the Rockets/Spurs rivalry would prevent something like this from happening. Well, the exact opposite has happened.
Much like KG's fadeaway becoming an unstoppable move for Wemby, what the hell do we think shit like this is going to look like?!?!
The Dream Shake, ever heard of it? Something tells me it won't take long for Wemby to unleash a 2025 version, and when that happens good fucking luck.
What I love about Wemby's choices this summer are that it's not just all about his offense. KG is arguably one of the best individual PFs/players of all time. You don't exactly make 12 All NBA Defensive teams by accident.
Not too far away on that list? Hakeem Olajuwon. Just a little 9x All NBA Defensive teams, 2 DPOYs, and a 3x BLK champion. As dominant as Hakeem was offensively, and he was dominant, things were even better defensively in my opinion
I'll remind you, Wemby was already a lock to win his first DPOY last year before he was shut down for blood clots. He's already a 2x BLK champion while only playing 1.5 seasons. I'm to believe that guy is most likely going to be even better on defense after working with KG and Hakeem? I'm not sure my brain can even comprehend what that might even look like.
The Spurs are already a team that's entering the 2025-26 season with a ton of hype and are looked at as a team that might be able to finally take their first step forward and make the Play In. Somewhere in the 7-10 seed. My question is, is that too low? If we're going to get a Year 3 Wemby that's some sort of KG/Hakeem hybrid who also shoots from 30ft, is top 6 out of the question? That feels a little steep initially, but I'm not sure we've ever seen what Year 3 Wemby could potentially be as a player. As long as he's healthy and on the floor, I don't think you can rule it out. This could very well be the season we see Wemby crack the top 5 in MVP and 1st Team All NBA, and one thing we know about NBA history is that if you're going to win at a high level, you need one of those types of players.
By all accounts, it sure as shit looks like that's what the Spurs have.
