ENOUGH: Arizona State and Kansas Will Reportedly Play at Wembley Stadium Next Season

Post and Courier — Fish and chips and … football.

American college football, to be more specific.

The Post and Courier has learned that Arizona State and Kansas will play in London next year. It's part of a multi-year deal for an event called the Union Jack Classic.

That first game is scheduled for Sept. 19, 2026, at iconic Wembley Stadium. Presale for tickets to each school's alumni and season-ticket holders is expected to begin over the next few weeks.

Please stop this. I'm begging.

Arizona State and Kansas will apparently play their 2026 conference matchup in London, because everyone knows the Brits go crazy for some Big 12 football.

Everything about this is insane. Obviously, you have the fact that these two teams are flying to England to play a college football game, the American sport whose atmosphere is most critical to the entire experience. One of those teams is giving up a home game for this nonsense. If you want to ship the Jaguars off to play in London, fine. Nobody cares if we lose one of eight or nine games in Jacksonville. But continuing to take away college football games from campuses to not just a neutral site, but a foreign country, is ridiculous.

Secondly, this game is reportedly taking place on September 19, which is Week 3. Assuming that's correct, you're going to make these teams open their season normally and then ship them off to London right as they're getting into the swing of things? We've seen what a Week 0 game in Ireland does to teams for the entire season, I can only imagine what kinds of consequences this will have.

Arizona State, by the way, plays at Texas A&M in Week 2 immediately before it's supposed to head across the pond for a conference opener. Best of luck.

And finally, the worst part of this announcement is "multi-year deal." We don't have to do this, guys. College football is meant to be played in on-campus stadiums in the United States. If Man City announced it would be playing a regular season match in Atlanta or Orlando or wherever, there would be riots in the streets. Yet we seem eager to play some of our most important college football games anywhere but where they should be taking place.

I hate this so much. Let the NFL play its games at 8 a.m. halfway around the world, but do not continue to allow this to seep into college football.
