All I Know Is Sadness: The New York Yankees Have Been Eliminated From The Postseason By The Toronto Blue Jays

Devastation has arrived. The Yankees season has ended at the hands of the Toronto Blue Jays. What's depression for me, is a party for you. That same old song and dance is playing again as the Yanks season ends in misery.
This time around the Blue Jays were simply the better team. They honestly were all season long and genuinely deserve this moment. That's why they won the division via the head to head tiebreaker. They kicked the Yankees' ass all year. Sure New York won Game 3 behind a great comeback to stay alive, but for three of the four games here it was one way traffic. That lineup was relentless from Vladdy to guys like Ernie Clement, Alejandro Kirk, Varsho, Barger, Lukes or Springer. They didn't even need Bo Bichette this series. From top to bottom they took it to us. The only starting pitcher worth a damn was rookie Cam Schlittler, who once again pitched his ass off to keep his team in it. Unfortunately Jazz Chisholm refused to help him out with this botch job in the 7th that would have ended the half inning and given the Yankees some life.
Instead that play pretty much ended the season as Toronto went on to extend the lead. Jazz by the way went 2 for 14 at the plate in the series. He wasn't alone with the lack of offense. Aaron Judge could only do so much by himself.
His supporting cast? Nowhere to be found.
You can't really pin this on Boone. The starting pitchers outside Schlittler were no shows and the lineup minus Judge was invisible. I did think it was nuts to keep leading Grisham off or continuously play Volpe over Caballero, but those changes weren't going to swing the series if we're being honest here.
I guess if you're going to take the Boone route you point to the middle of the summer when they played themselves out of the division. Should Boone still be around? Of course not, he should have been canned after the WC loss to the Sox in 2021. But I don't see them making any sort of change at manager going into 2026. The only thing that could lead to that is if the clubhouse revolted, but they love him, let's be real.
If you're looking ahead to 2026 you're getting Gerrit Cole back and the rotation should look pretty good if Cam Schlittler continues to be this guy. The bullpen will need to be revamped with how bad they were all year long. Devin Williams and Luke Weaver are free agents, are either of them back? My guess would be no. The outfield will look different with both Bellinger and Grisham free agents. What happens to Spencer Jones? How about Jasson Dominguez? They've loved Kyle Tucker for years and he's about to be on the open market. Hopefully they take a long look at shortstop with Volpe regressing in year 3. There's a lot of ways to go about it, I'm fascinated to see what happens. Most likely I'll be back here in a year's time writing the same blog. My misery is your treasure. No one has it worse than Yankees fans.
