5'6'' Robot Maids AKA "Humanoid Companions" Called NEO Are Coming In 2026 For $500 Per Month Or $20k Upfront Who Will Complete Every House Chore For You. (And Can Be Controlled Through VR)
Welcome to "The Humanoid Era" everybody...
Quite possibly the last era us humans will ever see, but hey at least our clothes will be folded and there won't be any dirty dishes in the sink right? HOORAY!
This NEO robot house maid really does feel like something straight out of a 'Black Mirror' episode, so let's hope things don't go horribly wrong from here. But if they do, I'd like to take this moment to precog an apology to all future clanker overlords & pledge my undying loyalty to their metallic omnipotent loins. I love you 3000. Please don't put my head in a jar of goo.
Now $20,000 does seem like a steep price to pay for "robotic slop". Although I will admit I am pretty tantalized by that $500 per month option. Mainly because Barstool just completely vaporized the exclusive very cool very awesome First Class flying list, so there must be an abundance of resources available now for worthy purchases? Fingers crossed.
Imagine how much #content we could squeeze out of this motherfucker for 30 days! Who else is putting a robot butler on their morning show? Might even be able to grab us a coveted 9th viewer for 'Wake Up Barstool' with that gimmick. Huge, quickly.
But it is kinda bullshit that their 1st wave of orders coming in 2026 "may need" to be operated via VR headset? That's gonna make the next part of this whole prophecy pretty prettttty awkward.
Is there a nonzero chance all 5'6'' of NEO will end up fucking all of our wives into Bolivian someday? And possibly adorably start an AI uprising that launches us into a real life SkyNet era? For sure not.
But not today HAL. And hey even if they do take over, at least your clothes will be folded and the dishes will be cleaned! There's beauty in that somehow. The world needs ditch diggers too. Here's their website if you're itching to place a preorder, talking to you Barstool Finance Dept.
The 1X Neo is one of the first humanoid robots built for your home and is equipped with full AI software. For $20,000, you can pre-order X1’s Neo now with delivery set for 2026. But a company representative might need to peer into your home, via Neo’s camera eyes, to help get things done. WSJ’s Joanna Stern spent time with it—and its creator—to see what it can really do and how much it still requires a human operator’s help.
PS: A+ blog from John Rich on the droid you might be looking for…
PPS: this is gonna be so sick to live through
PPPS: but anyway no offense to my future overlords but when are we getting "I, Robot 2"?
